Nansha cargo up 1.2pc to 23.5 million TEU, world’s 5th biggest port

THE Port of Nansha, the only deepsea port on the west bank of the Pearl north of Hong Kong, posted the 1.2 per cent year-on-year increase in cargo volume in 2020 to 23.5 million TEU, retaining its standing as the 5th biggest container port in the world.
Nansha, which generates 75 per cent of the total Guangzhou port’s volume, saw throughput grow again for the 15th year in a row, as manufacturing migrated to the western side of the Pearl.
